Something Beautiful...

As all of my faithful readers know, I love art. All kinds of art… music, film, poetry, photography, sculpture, paintings, etc… I can appreciate most forms and look to find something special and unique in each artist I come across.  I'm always looking for that one thing you can’t define. I see a lot of pieces I like, but rarely do I find an artist that stops me in my tracks, but the work of Norman Reedus did exactly that.

With so many photographs, it is simply a picture on a page, no matter how beautiful the scene, there is no real life to it; there is no connection between the viewer and the image. This artist has found a way to bring his work to life.

I told him I thought his pictures were breathtaking and I don’t think there is another word that can accurately describe them. It’s like the image comes off the page and instead of looking at it, you are standing in it and feeling it. You feel the cold broken tile beneath your feet in the Moscow prison kitchen and warm stillness of the air at the Korean temple. You can’t help but be drawn into every detail as they create a story in your mind that’s as vivid as the image in front of you.

While I was working on this post I read another article on his work that describes it much more eloquently than I ever could (link below).  Truth be told, I almost scrapped the whole post after I read that one (its that good!), but I still wanted to take the time to share my thoughts with you and introduce you to some amazing art. Once I'm settled in New York, I will definitely have a few of his pictures on my wall!

I hope photography stays one of his passions and he continues with it because I absolutely love seeing his work and can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.
